Welcome
Spectators
We experienced a brief issue with our webstore this weekend that wouldn't allow wizards and warlocks to get to the checkout page. We want to let you know that it is now fixed and running at 100%!
If you want to get some Mana/Health in time for Christmas, the last day to order so that you will get it in time is this Tuesday, December 15th by 4PM, PST!! So hop on over to our Buy Page now and make sure you keep your bars full this holiday season!

Over at Site of the Gaming Dead, Christian Martin recently blogged about his "Great Gamer Energy Drink Experiment" where he tries a plethora of gamer-focused energy drinks/shots including Mana and Health Energy Potion. And who did he consider to be the victor? Mana/Health Energy Potions!!! You can read his blog about the experiment here!

Our friends over at Custom Sticker Makers, the awesome people who make our Mana and Health stickers, put up this really cool blog post about us. We think they rock, so if you ever need custom stickers definitely give them a try.
As a side note: Something cool is on the horizon. That is all.
In honor of today's launch of the visually stunning MMO Aion, we decided to hook up a treadmill and some WiiMotes to our gaming PC so we could take flight both in the game and in real life.
The result is an epic workout that will definitely get your heart beating while running quests. Check out the How-To on our website, as well as the video below to see how we did it.

This past weekend, Aaron and I ventured up the great Northwest (Seattle to be exact) for Penny Arcade Expo. Harry from Aksys Games joined us at our booth and brought along with him some consoles loaded with BlazBlue and arcade sticks. To say the least, PAX was EPIC.
On each day we gave out thousands of Mana Energy Potion and Health Energy Potion samples, hosted BlazBlue tournaments and freeplay, and gave away tons of Mana/BlazBlue swag.
We also sponsored the AION Launch Party (bottles of Mana for everyone :D), which took place at the Space Needle. Aaron and I were extremely impressed with the event, but especially with the food. By the end of the evening, between the number of cheese-filled mushrooms Aaron ate alongside my demolishing the shrimp/cracker things and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, we had done quite a bit of damage.
Aaron got some hands-on time with Left 4 Dead 2 ("Same thing as L4D: Still awesome"), Mass Effect 2 ("Awesome graphics" - Still playing Mass Effect at home), and also gave the NVIDIA 3D Goggles a shot. I got to play the game I have been waiting ages for: StarCraft 2. In an epic Protoss v. Protoss matchup, I checked out the new units, gameplay and graphics. Thankfully the hot-keys were pretty much the same, which made the crossover pretty easy and allowed me to come out victorious! Now just to wait for the game's launch...
The BlazBlue tournaments were a huge success with stiff competition coming from all areas of the US. The professional players made themselves known in the match-ups, and some unknowns also came to the forefront during the semifinals. Overall, pretty frakkin' impressive.
The winners of the BlazBlue Tournament each day were:
Day 1: Veteru (who also walked away with Aaron's exclusive Mana Energy Potion hoodie)
Day 2: Phil J.
Day 3: Tom L.
Aaron also started "mastering" Nu during the BlazBlue freeplay, so if anyone is up for a cheap button spamming matchup, you can add his gamertag to your XBL: wintersynth
Thanks to everyone who went to PAX and stopped by!
Ryoga and Shane over at SF Parkour shot this chase sequence while they were on a recent run. We thought it was pretty cool. Check it out!
Human Night, an event by 1108events, brought in 120 vampire-chic enthusiasts to the 310 Lounge on East 1st St. in New York City on 22nd. Mana Energy Potions sponsored the event with Health Energy Potions for the tables and attendees. As this photo shows, Health Energy Potion looks mighty classy at their table.

Starting today (July 27th), Mana Energy Potions will be accepting submissions for its "Look What We Found in a Box" Contest! While sorting through some boxes, we had come across a Classic Football 2 hand-held game, and we thought we would make a contest where we could send both it and some Mana/Health to the winner! "How do I win?", you ask? Just check out our official contest page for more information!
Also, we made this cool video to accompany the big event :)
Submissions will be accepted until August 10th. For a full list of rules/regulations, click here.

Blast Magazine caught up with Aaron Rasmussen of Mana Energy Potions and Calvin Yang of ijji to talk a bit about the on-going Lunia promotion, Mana/Health potions, and the choice between casting fireballs or possessing telekinetic powers.
Here is a little taste of the interview:
BLAST: Does your Mana Potion promotion rival the pure stealth and deadliness of Solid Snake? Can I make a better convoluted and cheesy gaming reference?
AR: Nothing rivals the stealth and deadliness of Solid Snake. Nothing! It’s heresy to even ask that question.
Calvin Yang: The promotion is nothing like the pure stealth or deadliness of Solid Snake. Besides, Solid Snake is too grumpy and self-centered for the comparison, not to mention he smokes too much. Lunia is a much friendlier and livelier environment. I suggest a comparison to Mario instead — kid-friendly, yet surprisingly deep and involved. When boosted with power-ups, Mario is invincible. With our collaboration with Harcos, we give power to the gamers both in-game and in real life.

Health Energy Potion is featured in this month's edition of 'Play' Magazine (July 2009)!!! Here is a cool bit from the article:
"It's summertime, and the living is easy. However, the partying is hard. When you need a quick, lasting jolt of energy to keep moving, raise your hitpoints with a renewing blast of Health Potion."
You can pick up a copy of Play magazine at your nearest newsstand!

Mana Energy Potions is excited to be sponsoring the monthly all-night LAN party at Nexus Games Center in Modesto, CA this Saturday. Mana and Health will be present at each of the gaming stations, providing energy for those who will need to be alert into the late hours of the night.
For more information about Nexus, check out their website! If you want us at your next event, send us an email at sponsorships@manapotions.com.
Also, in other gaming news for the weekend:
I am hooked on the game Left 4 Dead and tired of having teammates leaving me for dead. (I was at E3 and got to see the Left 4 Dead 2 demo...which looks AWESOME)
If you have an XBox 360, Left 4 Dead, and a mic, I want to be in your party. Add "jbrence" to your Live list, and if you see me on, invite me to a game. Time to killah some zombies(infected)!

There is nothing quite like going full circle: Taking an inanimate game object, making it a real life object, then taking that real life object and making it a game object again.
Mana Energy Potion and Health Energy Potion are featured in the new game Mystic Emporium, a unique time management strategy game where you purchase an old magic shop with hopes of turning it into a bustling, potion-brewing phenomenon. In addition to a story mode, there are mini games that pop up occasionally and feature our two products in-game!
In all honesty, we're hardcore gamers here, so we don't have much experience with casual titles. We prefer CounterStrike, Left 4 Dead, or 80 hours of an ancient RPG on a dilapidated system, and we usually don't take kindly to something that is easy to use and "charming." We were surprised and elated to find that Mystic Emporium is addictive and fun! Also, it's apparently a decent spectator sport because Aaron and Chad were cheering every time they survived a level. There's a really cool system where you can buy additional items for the magic shop to help with production. The build system gives the game the tiniest hint of an RTS, which is refreshing.
It seems we aren't the only ones who liked the game:
"I was quite impressed all overall with Mystic Emporium, and can easily say that this game will have a constant home on my computer’s desktop..." - Christina Winterburn
"All in all, presentation is just outstanding, making the game stand out from the crowd..." - Casualicious, Reviews
We are pretty excited about the reaction all over the internet for the game. If you want to download and try out Mystic Emporium, just click here.

We had a great weekend at Fanime Con 2009! Ryoga Vee was kind enough to bring Mana Energy Potions alongside him to the event.
Vee hosted two drawing contests on Sunday, gave out Mana, and also premiered our commercials to the attendees (where there was an overwhelming positive response! WooT!)
Here is a photo of one of the artists showcasing her rendition of our monster. I thought it was pretty solid! Rawr!
Thanks to all who stopped by the stage and participated in Fanime 2009!

A fan of our product sent us this photo his wife took of their daughter showing off her Health Energy Potion tattoo. All we know is this is one tough cookie you do not want to run into on a bad day. Thanks for the terrific photo, Jerry! You have solidified that we will have nightmares for the next few weeks.
Sophia is awesome!

I'm en route to Boston right now, cruising at 36881 feet on a Virgin America flight WHILE USING THE INTERNET. OMFG, the future is here.
Here are the stats you might be looking for: I did a 3 speed tests and on the first found 1.3 megabits download and 0.3 megabits upload with a latency of 121 msec. That's pretty decent, especially for $12.95 for the whole 5-hour flight. I've been working over email, watching YouTube videos, downloading big PDFs (about 45 megs each), and generally having a good time. The one quirk I found was that I couldn't use SSL on my SMTP server, but SSL worked find on my POP3 receiving server.
I'm trying to get some critical production tasks done, and the rep I work with emailed me to call her. Thinking I was so tricky and cool, I fired up Skype and dialed out. Massive failure. For some reason the sound is horrendously choppy and thin sounding. It was completely unusable. I didn't get a chance to speak and see how I sounded on the other end. I tried dialing the Skype test call, but I only caught every other word. So much for my dreams of in-flight video conferencing while yelling over the din of jet engines.
I did two additional speed tests throughout the flight and these are the results:
Download: .43 megabits
Upload: .29 megabits
Ping: 153 msecs
Download: .98 megabits
Upload: .26 megabits
Ping: 118 msecs
All tests were through speedtest.net through the Dallas server.
With those pings I'm not going to be playing any Counter Strike on the flight, but overall, big ups to Virgin America. I highly recommend the service, except that if everyone uses it, I assume the bandwidth will get divided. So use it as long as you're not on a flight with me.
On a side note, there was an ad for in-flight Absinthe from France. I asked a flight attendant if it is the real stuff, and she said yes. Does anyone know if it's truly the good stuff? I wasn't going to mix Absinthe and work email. That just couldn't be a good idea.
I give the in-flight internet a 140/160 Mana Points on the account that the Skype thing is very strange. I also don't know if you can network to other computers on the same WiFi up here for some LAN action, although since WiFi is no longer verboten, it seems like an ad hoc network would do just fine.
Why am I going to Boston? I'm there representing Mana Energy Potion and discussing in-game advertising at MIT Sloan's Business in Gaming conference.

A random red mage (George R.) sent us this photo today shortly after receiving our Society of Mana newsletter. He and a few of his friends had taken an impromptu trip to Zombie Planet , picked up some Mana and Health, and ended up modding this trackball mouse.
There is nothing quite like seeing a trackball being replaced with a Health Energy Potion and seeing it glow. Nice work, George!
Have a cool hack? Another use for a Mana or Health bottle? Send it to us!

Kotaku awards(ish) "less filling, more killing" the Worst Product Catchphrase of 2009!
We recently were awarded the coveted Worst Product Catchphrase by Kotaku.com's writer Brian Crecente! It's not a real award, but we were pretty amused by it regardless.
In fact, we're pretty fond of "less filling, more killing," and Kotaku, for that matter (come on, how do you develop an energy potion called 'Mana' without being a Kotaku fan?) Most taglines feel like they're going to melt your brain with watered-down doublespeak, we thought it would be refreshing to say something fun. It's sort of a "if you get it you get it, if not, oh well" type of thing.
Free wristband goes to the first person who can name the Health Energy Potion tagline (which we haven't publicized almost at all). Post it to the comments below!
